The Job

As I type this post, I am about to fall 8 pm. This week has been long but I love my new job. I'm not doing the same thing everyday and I feel like I am accomplishing something each report I type. I had orientation on Monday. It was actually fun as we played games and competed for Visa gift cards even though our group didn't win. I miss the girls at the clinic and it's not the same without the funny stories from Lisa everyday. I'll just have to hear them on our next movie date (she said we have to go to the movies at least once a month which can get expensive-the hospital does give us movie tickets on our birthday though!). Tomorrow my QA editor is coming in to train me. I'm a little nervous as I've heard she has somewhat of a "military" personality. Wish me luck!

So today marked the end of a decade. My last day at work. 10 long years! I'm sad that I'm leaving the girls. I've made some really great friends while working there and I'm going to miss all the stories and inside jokes. I won't be too far though-just across the street. Today went by pretty fast. We usually leave early on Fridays anyway though. After work we went to Laredo's. The boss even chipped in money to buy us a round since he couldn't attend. It hit me when I got home and the tears started flowing. I know I won't stay gone too long though...I have to go pick up my paycheck next week!

Rainy days

I love rainy weekends. It makes me feel cozy. This afternoon Lisa and I went to see It's Complicated and it was hilarious! The whole theatre was just dying laughing. I just love Meryl Streep too. Tonight I am meeting friends at Niffers for dinner, and I might just have to get some corn nuggets! Lee is in Birmingham for his best friends birthday ( I decided to stay behind since I didn't know how the weather was going to be and Bella is now in heat so I didn't want to board them) I talked to Lee earlier and he was doing important stuff....playing video games. He's such a guy. I think they might go play laser tag later.

My diploma

My diploma came in the mail today! It's official. I am a Medical Transcriptionist:) All of those looooong hours finally paid off.

Back In Full Swing

And they are back in full swing. My favorite TV shows that is. The Bachelor, American Idol, Grey's Anatomy, and Private Practice. It's a good thing I have DVR. Lee has his favorites as well on Thursday and they always coincide with mine. There has been some hilarious auditions on American Idol as well as drama on The Bachelor. It makes for good tv. I'm currently waiting to watch Grey's and Private Practice. Like I's Thursday and DH is enthralled in Fringe and we are about to steam clean the living room carpet due to the cold weather and the pups having to come in almost every night. I'm very happy that it's supposed to be warmer this weekend.

Mikata Means Fun....and Warm

Tonight (going off budget), Lee and I went to Mikata. He wanted to take me to dinner for my sweet:) Anyway, tonight it was sooooo cold outside as it has been for the past week. We were being entertained by our chef and when he lit the grill on fire it felt really warm and toasty. And the soup was nice and hot too. So anyway tonight Mikata was fun...and warm.

A Graduate

I am officially a graduate of M-Tec!! That means no more homework/typing dictation. Now I can use what I know and get paid for it. If anyone wants to send me any graduation gifts/money I can give you my address! J/K

The Busby Budget

With a new job, a temporary paycut, and having to pay for health insurance I've decided to create The Busby Budget inspired by The Envelope System by Dave Ramsey. It's basically taking cash, distributing it into categorized envelopes according to a breakdown of what you spend your money on (clothes, food, gas, etc.). Once you run out of cash that's it. You can't spend anything else in that category. It recommends a savings envelope to put cash in if you have anything left at the end of the month. That can either go in a Savings Account or can be used for Fun Money. Hopefully we'll have some left to go in this at the end of the month. Wish me luck! Anyone else want to share their tips on saving money or what they do for budgeting?

New Year Equals New Beginnings

So it's 2010 and I haven't posted since October. Wow! Let's see....a few things have happened:
1) Lee turned 30 and I threw him a surprise party. He had no clue.

After playing golf in the cold weather he comes home to find everyone in the dark in the dining room waiting to yell surprise!

He loved the fact that I decorated the wall with baby pics of him- naked but and all.

"Just wait till you turn 30 Kari!"

2) We celebrated another Christmas together. We are now the proud owners of Band Hero and Super Mario on the Wii which by the way is more difficult than the Nintendo version. We stayed up until 1:30 the other night trying to pass another level on band hero. It's pretty much the same as Rock Band which I've never played though. We got booed off the stage twice due to the drums but in our defense it was a very fast song. Lee sticks to the guitar while I play the drums mostly. There are a few choice songs that we will sing though.

3) We celebrated another new years together with The Wiley's and The Maddox's with dinner at The Olive Garden and a night full of Wii playing. My arms were so sore the next day after sword fighting, bike riding, and canoe paddling.

4) I am leaving my current employer of 10 years! Yep you read that right. Since 1999 I have been working for the same office but I turned in my notice today. It was bittersweet but it is definitely time for a change. As of January 25th I will be a Medical Transcriptionist. I guess the course paid off. After 2-3 months I will be able to work from home! I am so excited and ready to begin my new career.

So that's mostly what's been going on in the Busby household. Bella weighs as much as Mason now and is only 7 months old.

That's Bella on the right. They were snuggling after a day of rain.
