Five Question Friday

It's time for Five Question Friday!  TGIF!

1. What is your favorite Halloween candy?

I love candy corn.  I eat it so much it makes me sick.

2. Do you fold your socks?

Yes but sometimes the dryer monster steals them and i'm left with one sock or ones
     that don't match.

3. What is something that you wish you had been warned about?

Hmmmm nothing really comes to mind at the moment.  I didn't know Old Yeller
was shot in the movie and that kind of traumatized me growing up.

4. What is the most significant difference between you and your significant other?

He is so much more laid back than me and has a lot more patience.  For me
if I am waiting for something to happen I want it to happen right then.

5. What are three words you would use to describe yourself? (And, just for fun...if your significant other is around, ask him/her what 3 words they would use to describe you!!)

   Loyal, Fun, Sensitive

Here is another one!  Check this one out at What Would Jen Do:

1. What is your favorite scary movie?

    Halloween esepcially with that music.

2.Whats the scariest movie you have ever seen?

The original 1970s Texas Chainsaw Massacre.  Talk about torture.

3 Whats your favorite Halloween costume you had when you were little kids?

I think I was rainbow bright one year.

4. Whats your favorite Halloween candy?

    See previous post

5. Do you hand out candy or go tricker treating? Who in your house hands out the candy?

We both hand out candy and it goes pretty quickly.  We have a ton of kids in our neighborhood.

6.Are you going to dress up this year? If yes, what are you going to be?

Not sure yet.  I might be going to a Halloween Party and dress up as Dorothy from Wizard of Oz.  We'll see.

Challenge Day 5

So I guess I'm doing two 30-day blog challenges.  It can get quite confusing so I think I am just going to stick to the 30-day challenge.  It is more up-to-date and I was so far behind on that one.  I got to Day 5 though.  No worries...you will still learn a lot about me if you care to :)

And here is my Day 5 from the Challenge at Katie's Journey.

My Sibling- My Sister

These are the same 2 girls:  My sister Heather and I.  Heather is on the left in both pics.  The first pic is circa 1991.  Don't you just love my hair and yes I still have my crimping iron. It hasn't been plugged in quite some time though.  My sister was dressed up in a surgeons outfit...my aunt was head of the OR so she played dress up quite a bit with her scrubs.  Oh life was so easy back then.  Heather is 6 years younger than me.  We fought alot growing up although in this picture we look so happy holding hands.  Heather wanted to do everything I did and would sneak into my bedroom and steal my clothes.  She was the typical annoying little sister....but then we grew up.  I moved out and we got a lot closer.  And then she was my maid of honor on July 15, 2006 on my wedding day.  I didn't inherit any sister in-laws as Lee is an only child so she's all I have.  We are still pretty close.  She lives about 2 hours away now so I don't see her as often.   I think I need to plan a weekend trip soon.

30 Day Blog Journal-Day 5 Favorite Quote

From Ah...Married Life's blog here is today's journal entry:

"We don't laugh because we're happy -- we're happy because we laugh."-William James

This is so true.  Laughing can be very therapeutic and good for your soul:)

Challenge Day 4-My Parents

Ok if my mom saw this picture she would probably kill me.  This was taken in the Magic Kingdom at Disney World a few years ago.  Whenever we go I always to have to get a picture wearing a hat and I have quite a few actually from that trip.  Anyway, my mom is the best.  I can talk to her about anything.  We talk multiple times a day and she lives no more than 5 minutes away.  We actually "work" together.  She got me the job doing medical transcription for the hospital and when I say "work" together we work for the same hospital.  We both work from home!  I constantly have to call her to listen to a word I'm having trouble with or how to do a certain report.  We both love American Idol and America's Got Talent so we always talk after the show to get each other's feedback.  She has always been supportive of everything I have done in life and has always been there for me.......  This blog has mostly been about the good stuff in my life leaving out the bad.  This isn't really a bad thing but my dad and I don't really have a good relationship.  In fact, we don't really have one at all.  We talk on holidays to say Merry Christmas or Happy Thanksgiving and our birthdays but that's pretty much it.  I had surgery a few weeks ago and he did come to see me in the hospital for that which I am grateful for.  Other than that we don't really see much of each other and we live about 20 minutes from each other.  My mom and dad divorced when I was 7 and my sister and I did the whole every other weekend thing but after that we just grew distant.  Both remarried.  I wish I had a better relationship with my dad and I have tried to call him recently but no answer.  Anyway enough of this sob story.  I have a great life and couldn't ask for a better family.

Journal Day 4- Favorite Book

Any book by Jodi Picoult

This is not my collection but i have read all of these books by Jodi Picoult.  They are great.  Her books tell the story from each character's point of view so you can see all sides of the story.  Her books make you think and you may have one side at the beginning of the book but may change it at the end.  I haven't read her latest one yet, House Rules, but it's on my list.

Always, Sometimes, Never

I'm still wired from the Caramel Frappucino the hubs brought me during lunch so I thought I would post this:  Always, Sometimes, and Never from A Southern Love.

I ALWAYS

  • Have room for icecream.
  • Floss my teeth at night.
  • Say my prayers.
  • check Facebook 100000000 times a day.
  • am so nervous watching Auburn football.
  • love going to Hobby Lobby.
  • sing in the car.
  • watch the Golden Girls before going to bed.
  • love a good book.
  • tell the dogs goodnight.
  • tell the hubs I love him before going to sleep.
  • talk to mom multiple times a day.

I SOMETIMES
  • get sick after eating Mexican food.
  • drive until the gas light comes on.
  • wished I exercised more.
  • leave the towels in the dryer and use them until the next load.
  • forget to turn the lights on while driving.
  • wished I had more patience.

I NEVER
  • like cleaning the bathroom.
  • like doing the dishes.
  • regret marrying the hubs.
  • thought I would marry someone who was an only child.
  • remember my camera.
  • like Mondays.
  • eat breakfast.

Challenge

I have read several blogs doing the 30-day Challenge from Katie's Journey (gosh this is addicting...you would think that all I do is blogstalk all day!) I'm a little behind on the days so I'm trying to catch up.

Day One: Introduce, Recent Picture, 15 interesting facts

I'm Kari and I just turned 30 last month (OMG!)  I work at home (hense why I can blog stalk during the day) doing medical transcription.  Lee manages a rental car company.  We have been married almost 4.5 years and have 2 dogs who are our children for now.

1.  I do not have anything pierced...not even my ears.
2.  I am addicted to reality TV.
3.  I can do a clover roll with my tongue.
4.  I have never had a broken bone.
5.  I love Lifetime Movie Network.
6.  The last time I got the flu shot I got the flu.
7.  I have never seen Gone Wtih The Wind.
8.  My dream job for a day would be to have a bookstore/ cafe and I would read
     the books all day.
9.  I have been to Disney World 6 times.  Each time it gets better.
10.  I love Disney movies.
11. I get mistaken for a teenager quite frequently.
12. I talk to my dogs like they are human.
13. My name is Kari and my dad is 1/2-japanese.  He was adopted but his last name
before that was Yoki.  So just put the two together and you have Karaoke!  I just
so happen to like karaoke too!
14.  I am ocd and check to make sure everything is unplugged twice before I leave the
      house.
15.  I am a confessed blog stalker and love reading new blogs.

Day Two: Meaning Behind Your Blog Name

There really is not a meaning to the blog name.  Busby is our last name and busy was just something that was close to it....and we're busy hense the name The Busy Busbys

Day 3- Your First Love

I guess my 1st love would be my childhood dog Coco.  He was my 1st dog.  My sister and I got him as a Valentine's gift one year and he was such a part of the family.  He went through playing dress up without a complaint and ate our vegetables when our parents weren't looking:) He went to the Rainbow Bridge a few years ago.  He is greatly missed.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I am loving a lot of things right now and if you want to participate too go to Jaime's blog and play the blog hopping game!

1.  The weather.

I've posted about this quite a few times lately.  The dogs love it too.  They just lay in the yard all day with their legs up in the air dreaming of maybe chasing a cat or burying a bone.  Sitting outside with them in the afternoons and reading a good book is great.

This is Mason about 2 years ago.  As you can see, he is thrilled to be sporting his Halloween costume from Target.  He did good to get the cape on.  No way was he going to cooperate and let me put the horns on.  Halloween is getting closer and he doesn't have a costume this year.  Maybe this year I can put his horns on him.  He is too sweet to be the devil though :)

This was taken last week of Bella.  I had just bought the toy and even though Bella hates to fetch she didn't want her brother to have it so she takes it and plops down.  And there's no getting the toy from her either.  As soon as you come within a foot of her she will take off.  Notice Mason is a lot skinnier than Bella.  Bella is a girl and is lazy.

2.  McDonalds Caramel Frappe and Monopoly game

These are so yummy and are much cheaper than Starbucks!

Like I'm going to win big but hey it's fun.  The hubs brought me lunch from McDs today.  Who could want more than a Caramel Frappe and fries.  We each one something.  Lee won fries and I won a breakfast sandwich.  We'll start somewhere!  Maybe we'll win big this year!  Oh well it's still fun to play.

3.  A Dog's Purpose
I am currently reading this book right now.  It's a little sad but such a sweet book.  The dog is the narrator.  It's fun to think of what Mason or Bella might be thinking.

4.  Hobby Lobby
I love this store and can spend hours in here.  I love making crafts and this place is awesome.  I am really into decopage now and their scrapbook paper isle is like heaven.

5.  Auburn Football

The weather is perfect for football!

6.  VO5 Green Tea Shampoo
This makes my hair smell soooo good!

Whatcha Say Wednesday

I found this from Candice at Stash Mama. You can check out her website and link your post too and be a blog hopper!

1. Do you have any pets, or do you want any? (Of course I love hearing pet names!)

Yes we have 2 dogs, Mason and Bella.  Aren't they cute?  They are like our children and yes I talk to them like they understand me:)

2. Are you a collector of any kind, what do you collect?

Not really.  I do have an abundance of candles though.

3. What would be your ideal place to get proposed to at...or where and how did your hubby propose to you????

The hubs proposed to me in front of my apartment after dinner.  It was sweet and I had no clue. I think somewhere outdoors (which was his original plan but fell through bless his heart) is nice...maybe at a park or a beach.  Any proposal though is romantic I think.

Bonus!
What is another word for "thesaurus"?

Day 3-Favorite Television Program

I have been a faithful watcher since Kelly Clarkson won in 2002. I loooove this show and even though Simon is gone I'm sure I'll still watch it. I'm not quite sure how the show will do with Steven Tyler and JoLo as judges though. Randy's the only original judge left. I love when January comes and the weeks of auditions. They are hilarious and I admit I record them on my DVR and watch them when I need a good laugh:)

And Grey's Anatomy runs right up there as well. I have seen every episode. Thank goodness for DVR b/c that's when Lee's shows come on on Thursday.

Tuesday Top 2

I found this neat idea at The Undomestic Momma. So please feel free to participate and leave me a comment.

Top 2 Favorite Places in Your Home
1. The Kitchen
Our kitchen is very "comfy." It is very quaint and I love the cabinets. The hubs and I love to cook (him more than me) especially on Sunday nights and we love the crockpot. Tonight we made chicken tacos and the house smiled quite nicely during the day.

Photobucket Photobucket

2. My couch in our living room
This couch is so comfy especially on a rainy day to watch Lifetime movies
or read a good book. It's so easy to fall asleep on.

What are your favorite rooms?

Day 2- Favorite Movie

"The Hills are alive with the sound of music...." I love the Sound of Music. I have the 40th Anniversary edition on DVD. I had it on VHS when I was younger and I know all the words to every song. I love all the songs on the movie but I think my favorites are The Goodnight Song and My Favorite Things. I do love Do Re Mi also...heck I love all of them:) Christopher Plummer was quite the looker in his day and I just love Julie Andrews. The 45th edition comes out soon and I believe they are re-releasing it participating theatres. Why can't they come to Auburn?

Okay so since this is MY blog I have another favorite movie:

When I watch this movie it makes me want to move to New York and open up a little bookstore. I love Tom Hanks and I cried at the ending. What can I say I love romantic movies. It made me want Meg Ryan's hair back then but I could never pull it off.

Top 5: My Week

1.) Pumpkin Spice Latte: Very yummy (see previous post). I just might have to venture out and get another one this week.

2.) Hobby Lobby: I just love this store and Saturday morning trips are the best. Whenever I'm headed to check out I always find more stuff that I need before I get there. It was Lee's fault I spent so long in the store. I had to take him somewhere before he went into work on Saturday a.m. and he asked if there was any way I could stay in the store for about an hour until his co-worker dropped him off there so I could give him a ride home.....Um yes!

3.) Spirit: Today I went to the movies and decided to check out Spirit afterwards. It's a Halloween store and they have tons of costumes and everything Halloween. They even had a life-size Michael Myers doll (scariest scary movie) in the back room that looked real and it played that scary music from the movie.

4.) War Eagle!: Lee and I headed to Buffalo Wild Wings on Thursday to celebrate another Tiger win! War Eagle! I'm a little nervous about Arkansas though. I ate so much last night. I went through chips and salsa like I hadn't eaten in weeks and then a chicken finger wrap. My glass of wine really didn't go with that though. No wonder today I have heartburn.

5.) Coach Lee: Lee coached T-ball earlier this year and is now coaching fall baseball. He loves coaching and while we don't have any little leaguers yet I know he will coach them too. It might be a little different coaching your own child as opposed to other children though.

Southern Plate

Lisa and I went to the movies this afternoon and saw You Again, which was really cute, and I came home to find this in the crockpot...Thanks Lee:) I came across this website Southern Plate and it has all my favorite foods. I'll be using recipes from this website a lot I think!

Fall Decor

I was feeling very crafty this weekend. I go through spurts. I could just spend hours in Hobby Lobby. Time sure does get away from me. Saturday morning I think I spent several hours in there. It doesn't hurt when you have a coupon and pretty much everything in the store is 50% off. I wanted to decorate our house for Fall and so far here is what I've done:

1.) I really enjoy making my own wreaths. It is very inexpensive as well. I bought a plain wreath, some moss, and orange sunflowers. I just used a hot glue gun and glued the moss on top of the wreath and the flowers on top of that. It took about 20 minutes to make. And I think it looks pretty on our front door.

Photobucket

2.) I love Fall smells. I found a few candles. Harvest Home and Banana Nut Bread. I also got the Harvest Home room spray. The candle and room spray smell like cinammon.

Photobucket

3.) I found a cute little ceramic pumpkin and some towels to bring out a little color in the kitchen.

Photobucket

4.) In 2 words...Mod Podge. This stuff is so much fun to play with! It takes me back to Kindergarten and peeling the glue off my hands...and yes I did that today too! Anyway I took 2 blank canvases and bought some fall scrapbook paper and mod podged them onto the canvases.

Photobucket

After I was done decorating Lee and I headed to Buffalo Wild Wings to pull the tigers through yet another nerve racking game...but they won in the final seconds!

A Treat

I have done a lot of overtime this week and I had to go to the doctor this morning so I decided to treat myself to the most talked about Pumpkin Spice Latte. It was so yummy. It definitely woke me up and helped me get through quite a few reports without being so sleepy. I think I have a new favorite holiday drink.

Urban Spoon

Lee and I are so indecisive and can never decide on where to eat. Urban Spoon is an app where it has 3 categories: City, Type of Food, and Cost. Your phone knows where you're at so you don't have to type that in. You hit shake and it's like a slot machine. It gives you a place to eat. For example you hit shake and Auburn, Fast Food, and $ comes up and it gives you Chick-Fil-A. It also gives you reviews as well. I think we are going to be using this app quite frequently.

Top 5: Weekly Reflections and Anticipation

So I decided to make a Top 5 for the blog. The Top 5 things I am loving about the week or looking forward to or just anything I feel like rambling about.

1. The Weather: I am loving the weather today. I bought the pups a new toy and some treats. I think they are loving the breeze outside too. I caught Bella last week in the yard with her legs in the air and her paws just a moving. Maybe she was chasing a cat in her dream. I might go for a walk later on. Maybe I should start walking in the mornings. I definitely don't want to after work.

2. My new phone: See previous post. I downloaded another app to see movie trailers for upcoming movies and also a list of new movies through next year. I'm like a kid at Christmas...what can I say?

3. Auburn Football: I love going to the games. The atmosphere is ausome (notice I didn't spell it correctly:)...) The hubs and I have the miniseason tickets which exclude Clemson (even though we went) and Georgia (maybe we'll go to that one too). This season has been very exciting so far! Hopefully they can pull out a win next week against Kentucky though last year was a different story.

4. Fall decor: Hobby Lobby is closed today but I might be making a trip next week to get some halloween decorations or a pumpkin...oh and some candy for trick or treaters. It's never too early for candy is it?

5. Outback Cheesefries: Friday, Lee and I went to Outback and even though I found out they are no longer giving the scratch off tickets, I devoured some cheese fries and it was worth it.

New Phone

I got a new phone today. It is an LG Ally Droid. I'm very excited. The hubs and I were both due for upgrades with Verizon and so we decided to jump out of our comfort zones with our boring, no apps, doesn't do anything but call and text cell phones and get a fun one. This has so many free apps and I'm so excited. The few I have downloaded are for useless facts, one for cheap gas finds, and a coupon one. It also has one for Pandora:) I will probably be working overtime tonight because of this....j/k. We both had $50 credits and $100 rebate each so that will help. On another note I had a pretty exhausting day. The tigers won big today and we supported them through 3 quarters. It was so hot. I have the pink nose to prove it I took it with my new phone.

Pandora

I have recently been listening to Pandora as a "pick me up" during the day. Sitting here at home (though very nice) working can get lonely sometimes. Day time TV is not all that interesting unless you want to watch someone get a paternity test to determine whether or not they are father so I've been listening to Broadway on Pandora and it plays Broadway tunes, Glee, and Disney songs. I'm a kid at heart. I can't really listen to it while typing since I have headphones and have to listen to a doctor talk all day, but I can take breaks between reports. It definitely makes the long day go by so much faster and I do catch myself belting out the songs every once in a while. Hey...whatever can keep me awake.

Trip to the Grocery Store

Why does a trip to the grocery store always end in you spending more money than you said you would? I ran by the grocery store today to pick up spaghetti sauce and that was it. But the WD was having a sale on Reese Cups, my favorite, at buy one get one free. I also needed a new toothbrush and mouthwash and of course some gum that I threw in at the last minute at the register. This wouldn't have happend on our usual Sunday grocery outing especially with Lee. He is very much a stick to the budget kind of person. Usually I am too but tomorrow is payday so that makes it easier! I did save over a dollar on the big can of spaghetti sauce and over $2 on the total bill. Lee likes when I find a deal. I will say that to make me feel better.

Pizza Wednesday

As I am posting these recipes on here we are having a frozen pizza for dinner...ha. I worked overtime tonight and usually Thursday is pizza night (this has been the case for almost a year now) in the Busby household. I have the stuff to make the Zesty Italian Crescent Casserole tomorrow. Who wants to come for dinner?

Best Lasagna Ever

This is from the Pioneer Woman. I've put a link in here b/c the recipe was a little too long to type. It was delicious.

Best Lasagna Ever

Zesty Italian Cresent Casserole

I loooove bread so if there are cresent rolls in my casserole that just makes it even better.

Ingredients
1 lb of ground beef
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 cup tomato pasta sauce
6 oz shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1 (80z) can Pillsbury Refrigerated Cresent Dinner Rolls
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp butter or margarine, melted

Directions

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. In large skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat for 8 to 10 min or until beef is thoroughly cooked, stirring frequently. Drain. Stir in pasta sauce; cook until thoroughly heated.

2. Meanwhile, in medium bowl, combine mozzarella cheese and sour crea; mix well.

3. Pour hot beef mixture into ungreased 9 1/2 or 10-inch glass deep-dish pie pan or 11X7-inch (2 quart) glass baking dish. Spoon cheese mixture over beef mixture.

4. Unroll dough over cheese mixture. (If using pie pain, separate dough into 8 triangles; arrange points toward center over cheese mixture, crimping outside edges if necessary.) In a small bowl, mix Parmesean cheese and butter. Spread evenly over dough.

5. Bake at 375 degrees for 18 to 25 minutes or until deep golden brown.

~Wow Pillsbury sure does go into a lot of detail in their recipies~

Cook Book Blogging

So I'm always having to relook my favorite recipes up online. I have a recipe box but it is so unorganized...so I thought why not have them on my blog and I can just look them up any time. I'll post one of my favorites as mentioned in yesterday's post. Please feel free to post any of your favorite Fall recipes or just easy recipes in general. The CrockPot has become one of my best friends lately so if you have any recipes then you will get bonus points. Happy Eating.

Taco Soup
Ingredients
2 pounds of ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
1 can pinto beans (I use ranch beans)
1 can whole kernel corn, drained
1 can of stewed tomatoes, mexian style ( I will probably leave this out next time unless you like a lot of tomatoes)
1 can of Rotel tomatoes (use original unless you want your nose to run)
1 pkg taco seasoning mix
1 pkg original hidden valley ranch dressing (dry pack)
2 1/2 cups water or more to make soup broth

Directions
Brown ground beef and onions in a large pain, drain off fat. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for an hour or so. And your finished. I like to top mine with cheese and sourcream with tortilla chips on the side. Enjoy!

This is not my soup but it looks yummy.

Fall is Here

Fall is my favorite season. The summer weather, hopefully, is now behind us because I am loving this crisp weather. Fall means it is getting closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas. Fall means college football is already in full swing. Fall means Taco Soup (which I made last night) and chili will be a must in the Busby household. Fall means the leaves will change and I will get to wear comfortable clothing including hoodies and long-sleeve T-shirts and walk around the house in comfy socks. During the summer it's just too hot for me to do the sock thing. Did I mention I love Fall? What are some of your favorite things about Fall?

Come On Down

You're the next contestant on The Price is Right. When I would stay home sick from school as a child, a teacher work day, or summer vacation I would watch this show almost every day. I loved Bob Barker. I watched his last episode. I don't catch it much these days but through Facebook I can still "play." I just started today and I have to say I'm not very good at it. I've made it to contestants row a few times but haven't gotten past that. I think I've won about $13,000 so far. Too bad it isn't real money.

Getting Caught Up

Yesterday I only had to work 1/2 a day. I met Lee for lunch at Brick Oven and then plopped myself on the couch for the rest of the afternoon getting caught up on Grey's Anatomy on Netflex. Yep we have the instant que where we can watch from the wii on our TV. I love technology:) Anyway I have to say it was a very depressing afternoon. You will know what I mean if you watch the show. I watched Season 5 and if you are a fan you know what happens at the end of the season. Poor George. Anyway last night I watched the season premiere and while it didn't compare to last season's finale (what could?) it was pretty good. I love Fall TV! It's one of my favorite things about the season. The Apprentice is also in full swing and Dancing With The Stars. Add college football to that and you've got a great mix. (Even though last week's game nearly gave me a heart attack. I bet this one will be just as exciting. War Eagle!)

Turning 30 and on call

So I survived turning 30. It really does feel weird to say that I'm no longer in my 20s. Oh well here's to another decade! I had a great birthday celebrating with family and friends. I got a few giftcards that definitely be of great use. Thanks to everyone who celebrated with me. I'm sitting her typing this while I'm on call....i have the beeper this week and the er just paged me to type a report but someone is already typing it. It is kind of frustrating that I'm the one that gets paged but I don't get paid for it if someone else is on the system typing. Oh well. I do get paid for the amt of time I'm on the system waiting for the report to get finished so we can call the er....just not the 2 hours I would have for typing the report. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before she emails me back. I've got a show to watch. I guess that is what DVR is for though.

Work and Turning 30

So you're thinking wow 2 posts in 1 week...Lee has the TV right now watching a baseball game. I was happy that our cable bill did not have the baseball package on it which means our 4 easy payments are finished! Today I had to go into work due to internet problems. Not mine, the hospital's. At 8:30 I decide I'm probably going to have to go into work since I kept getting kicked out of my reports so I jump in the shower and attempt to look presentable and headed to work. There are def some advantages of working in-house as opposed to working from home. I can get a lot more done working in-house b/c you can't access facebook from the hospital (lol) and there's no TV or 2 dogs that would distract you. Secondly, the equipment is a lot more faster. At home, we have a C-phone that you have to dial into and sign off of once you get done with a report and when you are typing the report it doesn't show you how much longer you have. That is one thing I like about going into work....if you have a really long report you know exactly how much longer have you to type it. And then there's the human contact aspect of it. That was one thing I loved about my old job. I made a lot of really good friends working there and being there for 8 hours a day...we had a lot to talk about. On the other hand, I'm supposed to be typing and the other girls that had to come into work today are on P for P or pay for performance which means they get paid by the line and not by the hour. I'm still a Level II so I haven't reaced that yet.

On another note, I guess I'm looking forward to turning 30. A new decade hopefully full of great things. The first 30 have been pretty great so far. I've made a lot of great friends, married a great guy, and have a great job. Things are great! The inlaws sent me a birthday card with $50 in it...woohoo! I guess you're never too old for birthday presents.

The Weekend and Fan Day

We had a pretty good weekend. Lee played golf all weekend. I cleaned house, worked overtime, and went shopping for a baby gift. Saturday night I got stuffed at Olive Garden. It was so yummy! I will be 30 the week after next and this is the 1st time I haven't gotten carded. Lee told me I was getting old. But he is still older than me...only by 8 months though. This afternoon was AU Fan Day at the new Auburn Arena where the basketball games are going to be. It is really nice. Lee wanted to get his aunt an autograph from the AU head coach so we stood in line for about 45 minutes. At least it was not in the heat. The football players were separate from the coach so if you wanted one of their autographs you had to stand in a line that was 3 levels long so we opted for just Gene. He signed our posters, took a picture with us and said War Eagle! The security then scotted us out the door. I'm so excited about football season. I'm glad the 1st game is a night game even though I'm sure it will still be really hot.
Anyway I'm about to go cook our dinner. We are having an Italian Crescent Roll Casserole and I'm sure we'll get out the Mint Chocolate Chip icecream (that was on sale at Kroger) for dessert. On a sad note, I think I might actually have to work at the hospital tomorrow since the at home program is not working. So the pjs might have to get traded for scrubs tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed it starts working tomorrow please!

Here are a few pics from Fan Day:

Minute To Win It

Last night we attended a Minute to Win It party. I am so exhausted especially from Junk In The Trunk and Bite Me. In Junk In the Trunk you take an empty kleenex box filled with pink pong balls and tie them around your back with a belt. You have one minute to shake the balls out. The guys were better than the girls at that but definitely not at Bite Me. In Bite Me, there are various sizes of paper bags ranging from tallest to smallest. Using only your mouth and not touching the floor you have a minute to pick up the bags and place then on a table. The girls were def. better at this one! It was pretty funny to watch the guys try to tackle this task. There were a lot of other fun games too and we had a great time! My abs and legs are definitely feeling the heat today.

MT Level II

So since my last post I got promoted to MT Level II which included a raise. I thought I would never reach this level. Two foreign doctors will do that to you. I have until December to become a level III and another raise. I hope I can do that soon too. Working from home is still going really good. If I want to take a break for a second I just go outside for a few minutes for some good Vitamin D, a quick pet of the pups, and then back to work. The Golden Girls and Who's The Boss also help the days go by fast as well. I still really like working for the hospital even though I'm at home. A few weeks ago I had to attend another orientation class there called On Stage which involved Movie Trivia. I must admit I felt like a complete dork jumping up and screaming out the answers, but hey I wanted to win movie tickets and they don't come cheap these days. Every question you got right you got to add your name to the bowl for the drawing at the end. There were 5 sets of movie tickets and my name was drawn last. I guess it does pay to watch movies.

It's been a while

So it's defintely been a while. Not much is going on in the Busby household. I'm off today! But only becuase I had to work this past weekend. I slept a little late this morning and met a friend for lunch. I'm about to mop the floors (I know...so not fun on my day off) and then pack for this weekend. Lee is a groomsman in his bestfriend's wedding so we are going out of town this weekend to good ol Selma. Hey at least I'm getting out of my house. Last week I couldn't really leave my house since I was on call for work. It has definitely effected my sleep schedule. I got paged last week at 1:00 in the morning to type a stat report. I guess I was in such a deep sleep that I didn't hear my phone ring. Lee woke me up and you know the feeling when you get woken up and you're not sure where you're at? Yeah that was me. The bad thing is is that both my cell phone was ringing and my home phone. Both numbers are programmed into the hospital paging system and they don't quit rining until you have deleted the message. At 1:00 in the morning that is a lot to think about. Anyway I finally got back to sleep after tuning out Lee's snoring and then had to work the next morning. So I'm so happy to have today off. I'm really enjoying my job and will hopefully be moving up to level II and getting a raise soon. I just have to clear 3 more doctors and 2 of them are foreign.

Work At Home Wife

So tomorrow is my 1st official day to work from home. I am very excited to say the least! I made a trip to office depot today to purchase a few things (I know I'm a dork but I still love "school supply" shopping. I missed the annual clinic beach trip this weekend but knowing that tomorrow and from now on I can stay in my pjs makes it pretty worth it. Wish me luck tomorrow on my 1st day:)

Happy Easter!

Tonight is the 1st MLB baseball game so Lee has the TV tonight. I decided to update my blog while I had the chance. I hope everyone had a great Easter! Ours started off early. We thought church was at 8:30 instead of 8. We rolled into the church parking lot around 8:25 and saw the sign that church was at 6, 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00. We decided to go through a car wash since my car despirately needed a bath and then come back. So we went through a car wash and onlyh had enough for the express wash...no wax, no dry. Oh well. It killed a little time. We got back to church and got a little breakfast there. They serve buiscuits, donuts, and cookies every Sunday (yummy). After that we headed back home and waited for Lee's parents to come have lunch. We met my parents and his at Logans for a yummy luch including their delicious mac n cheese. After that we came back to our house and Easter would not be complete without a basket full of candy. Lee's parents still send us Valentines candy and Easter baskets but we don't mind one bit. I have a slight tummy ache from too much candy. My afternoon has been spent muncing on Jelly Belly's and watching Mary Poppins and Sound of Music. Both are on ABC Family. I hope everyone had a great Easter!

Betty Croker

I got 2 aprons for Christmas this year. I wanted to start cooking more so I wanted to do it style with some cute aprons. Lee wondered why I wanted aprons as I don't normally cook (according to him but that has changed lately). The one that I am modeling in the pic below has my initial on it. The next meal I cook, I will wear the other one which is a cute toile print. Both of them get good use now as I cook every night of the week (sometimes excluding Friday and Saturday).

Weather change and Twilighting

Ok so it went from

...to

...in one week. I have to admit I like the snow every now and then but I am thoroughly enjoying the sunshine today. I was very happy to put on my short sleeved tee today. This morning I met Lori at The Waffle House for breakfast and then Starbucks was calling my name and I still had money left on my giftcard to use. I am now taking a break from relaxing outside to post a pic of the pups from today. Mason finally settled down from running back and forth in the yard to let me take his pic. While they were napping, Lee has been golfing and I have been reading Twilight. I know I'm a little behind. I was a late bloomer with Harry Potter and now this. I am not far into the first book but I can't put it down. I had clothes that I needed to put in the dryer but I thought hey that can wait...just one more chapter and then it got to be three more chapters later...and the chapters aren't that short. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! I woke up this morning to a sweet card and a box of reese cups from me sweet hubs. Tonight I am cooking dinner for him. The menu will consist of baked ziti, garlic bread, and chocolate chip cheesecake for dessert. He has been on a diet so tonights meal will definitely throw that out the window but everyone's gotta splurge every once in while right? Anyway the weekend has been great so far. It started with Friday's snow day. I don't have a lot of pics...just a few of the pups. I got of work around 2:30 and had to scrape the windshield of my car with a cardboard box so I could see to drive home. I got home and played with the pups outside. Mason cought snowballs and Bella ate the snow. I relaxed with a nice cup of hot chocolate afterwards. We had movie night and watched The Hangover which is hilarious. Saturday, Lisa and I went to see Valentine's Day which is pretty much like Love Actually if you've seen that. It was really cute. That night we went to see Baby James. He is such a cutie. He opened his eyes a few times while we were there but mostly slept. He was a week old yesterday. This afternoon, I cleaned (no fun) which I usually do on Friday but the snow was an exception. I hope everyone has a Happy Valentine's Day!

The Job

As I type this post, I am about to fall asleep...at 8 pm. This week has been long but I love my new job. I'm not doing the same thing everyday and I feel like I am accomplishing something each report I type. I had orientation on Monday. It was actually fun as we played games and competed for Visa gift cards even though our group didn't win. I miss the girls at the clinic and it's not the same without the funny stories from Lisa everyday. I'll just have to hear them on our next movie date (she said we have to go to the movies at least once a month which can get expensive-the hospital does give us movie tickets on our birthday though!). Tomorrow my QA editor is coming in to train me. I'm a little nervous as I've heard she has somewhat of a "military" personality. Wish me luck!

Friday, January 22, 2010

So today marked the end of a decade. My last day at work. 10 long years! I'm sad that I'm leaving the girls. I've made some really great friends while working there and I'm going to miss all the stories and inside jokes. I won't be too far though-just across the street. Today went by pretty fast. We usually leave early on Fridays anyway though. After work we went to Laredo's. The boss even chipped in money to buy us a round since he couldn't attend. It hit me when I got home and the tears started flowing. I know I won't stay gone too long though...I have to go pick up my paycheck next week!

Rainy days

I love rainy weekends. It makes me feel cozy. This afternoon Lisa and I went to see It's Complicated and it was hilarious! The whole theatre was just dying laughing. I just love Meryl Streep too. Tonight I am meeting friends at Niffers for dinner, and I might just have to get some corn nuggets! Lee is in Birmingham for his best friends birthday ( I decided to stay behind since I didn't know how the weather was going to be and Bella is now in heat so I didn't want to board them) I talked to Lee earlier and he was doing important stuff....playing video games. He's such a guy. I think they might go play laser tag later.

My diploma

My diploma came in the mail today! It's official. I am a Medical Transcriptionist:) All of those looooong hours finally paid off.
