Happy New Year's Eve

Today is New Year's Eve. I had to work Monday and Tuesday and a 1/2 day today. Later we are going to eat with some friends at the Olive Garden. Not sure what we will do after that. This year has gone by so fast. I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas and Marley and Me

I hope everyone had a merry Christmas. Mine was great. I enjoyed the week off of work and spending time with family. It was a busy week. Christmas Eve, Lee and I went to Selma to see his parents. After Christmas lunch, we came back and had Christmas dinner at our house with my parents and sister. Friday, we went to my stepdad's parents in Notasulga....and finally we are relaxing a little. Saturday, I helped my sister move to Birmingham. It was sad and there were tears (esp. from my mom) but I know she will be fine. I've been crying a lot lately (no I'm not pregnant; people keep asking me that.) I cried last night after the Kirby people left b/c they made fun of my new vacuum cleaner. I cried like a baby at Marley and Me. I went to the bathroom after the movie was over to see that my eyes were blood shot and puffy. The movie theater's napkins did me no good as I shredded about four of them from my tears. Well tomorrow it's back to work...and Monday:(

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

I am getting ready to go Selma to see the in-laws tonight. I attempted to make a batch of oreo truffles and just let me say that it didn't work out. The melted chocolate just burned to the bottom of the pan...and the kitchen smells exactly like that. I have the fan on and a candle lit so hopefully the smell will go away. I have finally finished wrapping all of the presents and I am worn out. It seemed like I kept thinking to myself..." oh I need to go pick up one more gift" and it would turn into hours trying to find something. But I am finished; I even started early this year. Oh well...I do love buying gifts. Tonight I am sure we will watch "The Christmas Story" (Lee's mothers favorite movie-last year we got her a puzzle from that movie-remember the leg lamp?) We will eat lunch at Lee's parents house tomorrow and then come home for dinner with my parents. I hope everyone has a safe and merry Christmas!

Since last time

It's been a while since the last blog. Not much has happened since then. I've decorated our house and completed most of my Christmas shopping. This weekend I will be traveling to Birmingham to visit Papa Roach and Grandmother and then to Mimi's on Sunday. I have all of next week off of work. Christmas Eve, Lee and I will head to Selma. Christmas night we will come back and have Christmas with my mom. On another note, my sister got engaged last night! I am so excited for her. Patrick proposed at at The View in Birmingham and of course she said yes. Her ring is so pretty. Tomorrow is Lee's birthday and he thinks he is getting old. He still has one more year before the big 3-0. I made a cheesecake for him and I had to force myself not to eat any of it. Tomorrow night we are going to eat at Mellow Mushroom for dinner. I better stop typing about food. My dinner consisted of a bag of popcorn so I am pretty hungry.

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. Lee and I went to Selma to visit his parents on Wednesday night and stayed until this afternoon.Uncle Buck, Aunt Eva, Uncle Robert, and Aunt Melody came over for lunch. The food was so good. We had turkey, potato casserole, green beans, rolls, macaroni and cheese, corn casserole, cherry pie, and chocolate chip pie. Yummy! Thursday night Lee's parents and I played Taboo. It was a lot of fun. Lee and his did won but Lee's mom and I were not far behind. Friday at lunch, Lee and I headed to Nashville to see our friends and watch the Iron Bowl. Maybe we can do some Christmas shopping too. When we get home we are going to put up the Christmas tree.

Christmas shopping and Thanksgiving

I had a pretty productive weekend. On Friday, Amy and I went to see Twilight. It was good. I haven't read the books yet so I don't really have anything to compare it to. Maybe I will read the books but I'm still reading another book right now. By the way, if you're looking for books to ready, Jodi Piccoult is awesome. I have all but one of her books (it hasn't come out in paperback yet). She is very descriptive in her books. I'm a slow reader so I don't know how long it would take to read the Twilight series. Saturday, I cleaned house and then Lee and I went to Tiger Town to do some Christmas shopping. We got a little bit accomplished. I usually wait till a couple of weeks before Christmas before doing any shopping, but this year I told myself I am gonna get done early. Yesterday, I went back to Tiger Town and got some of Lee's gifts. His birthday is December 19th so I have to split the gifts up for him. We aren't really getting each other a whole lot since we are shopping for a new bed/headboard. But we'll see. I'm excited that it is only a 3-day work week and I get to eat a lot of good food. Wednesday, we are leaving to go to see Lee's parents in Selma. Friday night we are leaving to go to Nashville to see our friends and watch the Iron Bowl. I hope it's a good game. It usually is. I hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving. I'm already hungry just thinking about it.

Starbucks, Cold Saturday, and Good football

I started the end of the week off right with a Cinammon Dulce Latte from Starbucks. Note, it is not on the menu anymore but they still have it:) It was very yummy. Friday night, some of the girls from work and I went to see The Changeling. I enjoyed it very much. Saturday...early, Lee and I headed to campus to attend the last home game at Jordan-Hare this season. It wasn't as cold as I thought it was going to be (until later). I really thought Auburn was going to win the game, as every game that I've been to this season they did win. But unfortunately it didn't work out that way. But it was still a great game. After the game, we headed back to the tailgate for some great barbecue and other snacks. Around 4, it started getting really cold so we packed everything up and Lee and I headed home. As soon as we got in our car it started raining but not didn't last too long. I fell asleep on the couch not long after laying down. Today, was a lazy day. I didn't mean to sleep as late as I did. For lunch, we decided to go to Applebee's for their 2 for $20 deal. You get an appetizer and two meals for $20. Pretty good deal. After leaving Applebees we went to Books-A-Million and Kroger. We are going to try an new dish tonight. Some chicken recipe Lee found on Food Network. He is always trying new recipes.

Birthdays, a halloween party, and Papa Roach

This weekend was a busy but fun weekend. Friday was my mom's birthday and Mason's birthday. Mom got a box of truffles and Mason got some treats and a new rope toy. This week we will go out to dinner for my Mom's and my sister's birthday, who will be 22 on Friday. Mason turned 4. He is growing up:) Friday night we went to the pumpkin carving with the Wiley's and then to eat pizza at Little Italy. That place is very good and very inexpensive. Saturday, we watched poor Auburn lose another
game. That night, Lee and I headed to Dr. Lock's annual Halloween party. It was a lot of fun. Lee was Jason Voorhees and I was a Geisha. I think I was a little more excited about my costume than he was but he was a great sport. Dr. Lock really goes all out for this party. He starts decorating over a month ahead of time and cancels clinic the week of the party. Route 66 played and they were great. Sunday, after gettig an extra hour of sleep, we went to Birmingham to visit my Papa Roach and Grandmother. They are so sweet and I love to go visit them and listen to them tell the same stories (which I request) over and over. They never get old and I love hearing them tell them. After eating lunch and having a nice visit, we left their house and went to the Summit and walked around and then ate at the Cheesecake Factory. Unfortunately, I didn't have any room for any cheesecake after dinner. Here are a few pics of Lee (Jason) and I before the party:

Trick or Treat

Tonight was "Trick or Treat" in Opelika. I bought candy two weeks ago but ended up eating most of it so I had to make a quick run to Winn-Dixie to get more last night. I thought I had bought more than enough but we ran out of candy an hour into it. It was a lot of fun seeing how excited the kids were and how loud they would yell "trick or treat". Our first group of kids came at 6:00 sharp but they didn't ring the door bell. We have glass in our front door so you could see the kids just peeking through. That happened a couple of times. They would just pop up at our door:) One little trick or treater, a fairy, told Lee "twick or tweat" as he opened the door. It was so cute. Alicia, a girl that I used to work with, who I miss very much, brought Chloe "the pirate" by. She was content on just holding on to the pack of Nerds we gave her and didn't care too much about the other candy in her pumpkin. By 7:00 we ran out of candy and had to turn our lights off. The candy went pretty quick this year. Oh well, I didn't need to eat any more anyway. Tomorrow night we might go to the Pumpkin carving put on by the School of Architecture at AU. Then Saturday night, it is the annual clinic Halloween Party. I am going as a Geisha and Lee will be one of my favorite horror movie villans, Jason Voorhees, from Friday the 13th. I am very excited that Friday the 13th-The Remake will be released Friday, Feb 13th. I

No plans

I didn't do a lot this weekend...and it was wonderful. It seems the past couple of weekends we have either been out of town or had company. It was great to not have a plan for the weekend. Friday night, Lee and I went out to eat at Red Lobster. We haven't been in ages but I have really been craving some of their delicious buscuits. I had the salmon and a baked potato. It was very good. We even got to trade beepers with someone who would have sat down earlier than we did but her group wasn't there yet. We gave her our beeper so she could wait on her friends. It was one of those high tec beepers that I hadn't seen yet. A "lady" would tell you that your table was ready and to return it to the hostess. Saturday, we went shopping at Tiger Town and we ventured over to Kohl's. They were having a big sale and I needed some new couch pillows. They were 60% off so I purchased them. Today, some friends and I went to see Nights in Rodanthe. It was very sad. If you want a good cry, go see it. I just finished eating a homemade pizza Lee made and am about to hand over the computer to Lee so he can sell stuff on e-bay. I guess I will just have to watch one of my recorded lifetime movies. I'm sure I'll manage though.

Selma, Market Day, and Tale Telling

This weekend, Lee and I went to Selma to visit his parents. We haven't seen them since July 4th so we were overdue for a visit. We left Friday after Lee got off work and they had homemade pizza waiting on us! Saturday morning we got up to go to market day in downtown. We met Aunt Eva there. We had a lot of fun. Me and Aunt Eva each bought a purse and she also purchased some really neat artwork from this guy who makes art out of pasta noodles. It looked really cool. After lunch at Grumbles Alley, we left and went back to the inlaws house to eat dinner. It was very good. We had ham, potato casserole, rolls, and lima beans. After dinner, we headed to an auditorium (can't remember the name) to hear Kathryn Tucker Windham and several other story tellers. It was sooo much fun. For those of you who know me, you know I love to hear someone tell stories. I could just listen to them all night. Kathryn is now 90 years old, and she did a great job of standing at that microphone and telling those wonderful stories. She didn't tell her usual ghost stories but the stories she did tell were hilarious. We were also entertained by a blue grass band by the name of the Dill Pickers. The only sad thing was the text message we received saying Auburn had lost to Arkansas. This just isn't their year. After grilled hamburgers for lunch and homemade icecream we said goodbye to the Busbys and headed back to Opelika. It was a very relaxing weekend and I wish it would last longer.

Nashville

Lee and I went to Nashville this weekend to stay with our friends Andrew and Ashley. We left around 2:00 on Friday afternoon and arrived in Nashville (technically Franklin, TN) around 7:00. After a nice glass of wine ( I normally don't drink wine) we headed to the Big River Grill in downtown Nashville. I ordered the pizza...very good. After dinner we headed to The Big Bang, which is a dualing piano bar. It was so much fun. They even sang War Eagle, although the words were right but the tune of the song was not. There were a lot of Auburn fans there. We called it a night after two Bicardo Raz's. Saturday morning we got up for gameday and I had a feeling when Lee Corso picked Auburn that they might be losing. We ate lunch at the Sportsman grill and then headed to campus to tailgate. We were gonna try and get tickets but declined after finding out that the cheapest we could buy tickets were for $125 a piece. Um...no thanks. We then headed to Sam's Sports Bar and watched the game but couldn't pull the Tigers through so we headed to TGIFridays to grab some dinner and then went home for the night. Sunday afternoon we headed back home and took the interstate to avoid the Talledega traffic. We got back around 6:00 and unpacked. We had a lot of fun this weekend despite the outcome of the game and Vanderbilt had a very nice campus. I forgot my camera so no pics. Hope everyone has a great week.

Cleaning for Company

I am taking a break from cleaning my house. The clothes are in the washing machine and the dishes are in the dishwasher. I am getting ready for my houseguests for the weekend. Three people are staying with us from Nashville and we are all going to the football game tomorrow. (they are all Auburn fans) It's going to be a busy weekend; but a fun one. There are several tailgates that we will probably go to as well. So far it's been a great week. My favorite Fall T.V shows have started back. I have also tried two new recipes this week. Very easy but new to me. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Good buys and Fall weather

I'm sure everyone has noticed that it is getting cooler outside. I love Fall weather. After work I went to Hobby Lobby and bought a Fall wreath. Amy let me know that they were 50% off and so was everything I bought:) Shopping at Hobby Lobby is so much fun. Tonight I made Taco Soup for the first time. It was really easy and good. The only thing I would do different next time is to get the mild version of Rotel tomatoes instead of Original. My nose was running after finishing the soup. I'm looking forward to football this weekend. Lots of good food and tailgaiting. I hope everyone has a good week and weekend. Tomorrow is hump day:)

Woofstock

This weekend was Mason's third visit to Woofstock. Last year he somehow got out of his collar and took off running so we didn't stay very long after that. After putting down a Chick-fil-A sandwich in front of him to lure him back, I snapped on his collar and we left. This year, he seemed to have a little more fun. He got in the pool to cool off his feet and drink the water but never sat down in it. I'm not quite sure what's wrong that he doesn't really like water. He did manage to pee on every tree there and kick up the dirt too. He still is a little scared of other people and won't let any strangers pet him. Petco was giving out gift bags so Mason got a tennis ball, a bandana, and some other dog food. All in all, I think it went pretty well as compared to last year and he pretty much slept the rest of the day. Here he is sporting his new bandana:

The Weekend

I have had a pretty good weekend so far. Friday, I got off work early around 3ish and came home and got laundry out of the way. Friday is laundry day. I got caught up on my lifetime movies that are saved on the DVR. Saturday I made Rotel dip and my sister Heather came over to watch the Auburn game. We made it to the game last week (thanks again Amy for the tickets) along with a funfilled day of tailgaiting but this week we were content with just watching it at home especially since it was such an early game. After it poured in Auburn it headed to Opelika soon after and I fell asleep in the fourth quarter. Last night, Lee and I went to Longhorn and used my birthday giftcard (thanks Dad). I swear there were at least 10 people celebrating their birthdays there last night. As soon as we heard the clapping we knew it was another one. Lee and I started counting after number 4. This morning we went to church and as soon as we got home I changed clothes and went outside to play with Mason. (He hasn't gotten a lot of play time lately as I have been having a lot of school work lately and just took my first test). Lee left not long after that to help my stepfather move a table and about five minutes later I tried to open the door to go back inside and realized the back door was locked. I was locked out! For what seemed like almost an hour was only 20 minutes according to Lee. He didn't realize I was still outside when he locked the door. Oh well, Mason can almost catch a frisbee now. I just took my first test and now I need to get out of the house so Mason is going to get a new collar. Maybe I will find him an Auburn collar. I hope everyone has a great week.

28

It's been a while since I posted. I've been really busy with my transcription course. Lots of practice dictation to do. Not much has happened since the last time I posted. I did turn a year older on Saturday. I am now 28. I feel a lot more closer to 30 than I felt at 27. Last Friday, we went and at Brick Oven. I love their pizza. Amy bought me the final season of the Golden Girls on DVD. I loved that show. And it came in handy the next day as it rained all day and night. My mom brought me and icecream cake to my house. I love icecream cakes and that's what I ask for every year. My grandmother also baked me a Red Velvet cake. Also one of my favorites. She gave me some birthday money too. Sunday I did get out and shop. The girls at work got me a giftcard to Kirkland's and Lee gave me some money to shop with. It was a great birthday weekend and I as I am typing this post I am scarfing down a piece of icecream cake. I'm not sure if we are going to the ballgame this weekend. We will see if we can get tickets. Lee thinks we should be able to find some. But we will still tailgate. I love tailgating food. I hope everyone has a great weekend and War Eagle!

Mason

This morning I got up to go outside and play with Mason since it was pretty early and it wasn't so hot outside. He normaly doesn't like getting a bath or playing in water ( I know...not normal), but today I was smart and brought two little treats outside and hid them in my pocket. Hey...whatever works:) He was so good while he sat there and let me brush him. He still isn't keen on getting a bath and he would run off and get his toy. He didn't roll in the dirt though afterwards which is definitely progress. Here is a picture of him post bath and brushing. He looks so happy:)

Charleston

Charleston was a lot of fun. It was so pretty. It reminded me of Savannah. We left Thursday morning and arrived in Charleston around 5pm. Our hotel reminded me of a cabin, with a fireplace and wooden floors. It was very nice. As soon as we got there we all went to dinner at Gerabaldi's (sp?) and then had some frozen concoctions at Wet Willie's. Friday was the bridal luncheon at Tristan's in downtown, some brief window shopping and then the rehearsal dinner at The Harbor Club. The groom made a speech and was so happy that we all could attend even though gas prices were around $4/ gallon. K could not stop laughing and she said "my chuckle box is turned on now". You had to be there. That night we all went to the Rooftop bar, which is this bar on top of a roof at a hotel. It had a swimming pool and fountains and overlooked the city. It was really nice. Saturday was beach and barbecue day at Kiawah Island. I got some much needed sun on my very pale skin although I was happy not to get burned as I usually do. Saturday night was the beautiful wedding of Dallas and Katherine. The ceremony was overlooking the water with beautiful trees and so much green. It was breathtaking. After the ceremony, we headed across the path in a carriage ride to the reception. Dinner was wonderful. We had pork tenderloin, green beans, smashed potatoes, and crabcakes. The wedding cake was also delicious. After dancing, the reception ended and some of us (including the bride and groom) went and hung out at the pool. My legs are covered in mosquito bites. Sunday it was time to go home and get back to work:( I would love to go back soon. Here are a few pics from our trip:

The Weekend

We had a pretty low key weekend. I "needed" some new summer clothes so last night we ventured over to Old Navy. Lee hates to be in a store for more than 10 minutes so he left me to myself and went to Books A Million. Today we went to Bed Bath and Beyond at East Chase to buy a wedding gift for our friends Dallas and K, who are getting married next weekend. I love that store. I could spend hours in that store and am very happy that we will be getting one at Tiger Town soon! In fact, if Lee wasn't with me I probably would have spent all day there. Lee even left me in there to go to Circuit City while I wandered around looking at all the stuff I knew I needed:) After an hour, he was hungry so we purchased the gift and headed to lunch. He had Zoe's kitchen while I had Guthrie's. We ate outside on the little patio which was nice. Well that's about it. Tomorrow is Monday, and I only have to work three days next week. We are going to Charleston for the wedding mentioned above and for a much needed vacation:)

TGIF tomorrow

Tomorrow is Friday! It has been a long week, but our boss has been out of town so that made it go by a little faster. Not sure what our plans for the weekend are yet. I need to get ahead on my schoolwork since we are going out of town next week. We were gonna go to a baseball game this weekend with my cousin, but it is supposed to rain so we decided not to spend the gas money and then take a chance on a rain delay. Lee isn't a Braves fan anyway but we were just gonna go because my cousin's husband is. Anyway, I need to get busy studying.

Mondays aren't fun

Today was not a very good day. First of all, it was Monday to start off with. I woke up late and so that threw everything off. I don't usually eat breakfast so today was nothing new. Except I was rushing getting to work and I felt like I couldn't get anything done. I finally had to sit down and eat a graham cracker b/c I was getting the shakes. I had to sit at the front desk for a while since several people were out today, and some patient's didn't make it any easier. Hello...if you come to see the doctor expect to wait more than five minutes; especially on a Monday. Some other things didn't help either but I won't go into detail. Anway, sometimes I just have to vent. Hopefully, my week will get better. I do get paid this week so that will help. And my Papa Roach called to tell me he is going to help pay for my transcription course:) He is so sweet to do this. Oh and my sweet husband is bringing me McDonald's fries...yummy.

One down

One down, 77 to go; weeks that is. 77 more weeks before I am done with school. It seems like a really long time, but hopefully I will finish early. They give you that much time, but you do the assignments at your own pace so you can finish early if you are able. I actually look forward to coming home and studying after work. I never thought I would say that. Not much is happening in the Busby household. It's thundering outside and Mason is barking at something. Who knows what it is. We went to see the Dark Knight this weekend, and I really liked it. We are excited about an upcoming trip to Charleston in August, which means two days off of work:)

Happy Anniversary

Today is mine and Lee's two year anniversary. Time has flown by it seems. Lee is so sweet. Today, he sent me gerbera daisies at work and told me to dress up for dinner but wouldn't tell me where we were going. He said it was somewhere we had not been before, and I could not think of where we were going. Well, we went to Christopher's. It was so yummy. I ordered the blackened chicken. It came with grits, zucchini, squash, and salsa on the side. It was sooo good! I could not finish it, so we brought home leftovers. Here is to many more great years, Lee! I love you:)

All by Myself

So Lee left me. Well not for good, just for the weekend. His friend Dallas is having a bachelor party in Chicago so the guys are having a baseball/ bachelor weekend. Dallas is as obsessed with baseball as Lee is. I told him he better bring me back something good:); our two year anniversary is next week. So it's just me and Mason tonight. I've recorded some great lifetime movies on the DVR, and I think I will have Firehouse Subs tonight. I have a coupon.

Back to School

So I have decided to go back to school. Well, online that is. I have been wanting to do Medical Transcription for a long time, but I just never did anything about it. I've heard a lot of really great things about the program I am choosing, and I'm very excited. The course takes about a year to complete, and they really prepare you for job placement. I can't wait to get my software package and textbooks in the mail. Wish me luck:)

The Lake

I hope everyone had a great 4th. We went to the lake, but didn't get to get out on the water that much. It poured on Friday night, so we grilled ribs and watched the Jaws marathon. I ate entirely too much, but it was all so good. Saturday morning, the girls went to the flea market and Lee's mom bought a record player. For $40 she got a record player and ten records. Picking out the records was the funniest thing and listening to them was even more fun. And to remind me of my youth, I did pick out the Carebears Christmas album. For those of you who know me, you know it doesn't take much to entertain me. Saturday afternoon, the sun was out so we took the boat out for a ride. The rest of the time, I cought up on my reading and laid in the sun. That night, we had steak and potatoes...yummy. We drove back that night and the bottom fell out as we were heading back. I have never seen so much rain in a long time. I don't even think it rained much if at all at our house. Our grass needs it. Well, tomorrow it's back to work. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Lee's Aunt Melody loves taking pictures. She was proud of her $1.00 purchase of these hats:

Happy 4th

Today is finally over:) It was sooo slow at work. Tomorrow, Lee and I will head to the lake to Aunt Melody's for some good food, boatriding, and fireworks. My chocolate chip cheesecake is in the oven...yummy:) Lee hasn't made it home yet. The 4th is usually a busy week for him. Everyone wants to rent a car. I hope the weather is nice this weekend. Last year the water was down at the lake . This year, I plan to be either in the water or on a boat the whole time. If it rains though, there's always karaoke. I hope Lee's mom will bring her famous potato casserole. Well, I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th!

Here goes

So..after months of procrastination and blog stalking I decided it was time to start a blog. It seems I have been out of the loop. Well, Lee and I have been married almost two years and we have a sweet dog (although some would beg to differ) named Mason. That's about it...for now. We just purchased a Wii, and it seems we were out of the loop on that one too:)
